Bioshock 2 recently came out, and while I am playing my way through the game as we speak so I can put up our official review, it has made me think about the next installment. Bioshock 3 was officially announced before the second game came out, and some are reporting that the third one will drop when the Bioshock movie comes out. Hit the jump to see what I want in Bioshock 3.
After updating the audio files and the ending for the first Portal game, Valve answered everyone's question about the Portal series. Yes, there will be a sequel to Portal, and it is scheduled to come out this fall. We don't know much about it, other than the usual PR stuff, like you'll be able to visit new areas of Aperture Science, and there will be new characters. But one rumor floating around is that the new game will feature co-op. We imagine the co-op experience to have one guy operating the orange portal only, while your partner operates the blue portal only. That would make for some crazy puzzles. We'll keep you updated as we find out more information
It won't be long until Sony are rolling out their next update (which hopefully won't crash the system this time) for the Playstation 3. Along with this update, it will allow PS3 owners to take advantage of the new "Full HD 3D TVs" and 3D programming, which is soon to quick off.
Nainan Shah, vice-president of new platform, planning and development at Sony said, "PS3 users worldwide will only need to upgrade the PS3 system software via the internet and there is no need to repurchase the system to enjoy 3D games."
Sky TV will be launching its 3D schedule next month, while other services will be bringing out similar things in the near future.
To make the update as smooth as possible, the update will come completely free through Sony's network and since the PS3 has the Cell processor and the necessary HDMI ports, there's no need for any modifications to the console.
"Sony's plans to upgrade existing PS3 consoles to 3D will provide a major boost to the 3D market during 2010," commented David Mercer of Strategy Analytics, "This could quickly create a worldwide installed base of more than 30 million 3D-capable games consoles and confirm the PS3 as a platform positioned for the next generation of console games."
The big driver for 3D will be this year's Fifa World Cup in South Africa, which kicks off on 12 June. Most TV manufacturers will have 3D TVs onsale well before this. Several are also looking to offer ways to allow existing customers to enjoy 3D TV programming and are whetting their appetites by offering 2D-to-3D upgrade packs.

With the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta starting May 3rd, Bungie is making us hurt by releasing this video. The video shows off the new and improved Halo multiplayer. As you can see in the video, there are new animations for assassinations, new weapons, jetpacks, new vehicles, new game modes. It looks extremely awesome. Make sure to dust off your copies of ODST when May 3rd rolls around to get in on some of this action. If you want to get into the beta, but don't have ODST, don't worry. Just go buy a copy, or borrow one from a friend. It is as simple as that. We'll be sure to post our thoughts about Halo: Reach when we play in the beta. There isn't any word yet if the beta is only open to North America, or if Europe and the rest of the world will be able to participate.
The past few days Sony has been teasing gamers with a "surprise announcement." That announcement came yesterday, and it is the next game in the highly popular SOCOM series. But this isn't going to be like SOCOM: Confrontation, which was an online only game. SOCOM 4 is going to feature a full single player experience, along with a 32 player online experience. Oh, and it is being developed by Zipper Interactive, the original developers of SOCOM, who recently released MAG. Hit the jump for more details.
Here at Baxy-Z, we’re huge fans of the Ace Attorney series. With the recent release of Ace Attorney Investigation: Miles Edgeworth, we thought it was time that we listed the top 15 soundtracks from all the games within the series (including Apollo and Miles’ games). We also believe that the simple midi tunes are some of the best pieces of music on the DS and for a lot of people a lot of themes have now become very iconic.
So sit back, listen and enjoy some sensational music. And if you loved the music, you’ll certainly love the great games!
WARNING: THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM ALL GAMES. SOME SPOILERS RELATE TO THE LAST CASE TO EACH GAME. You have been warned…
15 - Suspense (PW - AAI)
Being honest: this music scares the crap out of me. The minute you hear it playing, you instantly hit the start button to begin saving it, as you know what’s coming next. But why’s this on our list? Quite simply because it’s overlooked, and yet it provides the most tension from the game. Even with the majority of the games containing up-beat songs, the eerie "dunas" really catch you off guard.
Since the first days of board games and basic home computers, the idea of a story evolving in time with a player interactively has captivated audiences and created large communities that dedicate themselves to role-playing or throwing an endless number of die in pursuit of a personal tale.
Yet, in all that time, few have been able to capture the true feeling of freedom in a game – which is why Heavy Rain has greeted us in this gaming universe.
"It's all good guys, they don't need us again until May."
All you Western fans, listen up. Red Dead Redemption has been delayed again for what feels like the 50th time. The new release date is now May 18th, just a little over a month later than the previous release date. This game is starting to turn into the next Duke Nukem: Forever. I hope I can play this game in 2010. Hit the jump for the reason for this delay.
In trying to renovate the series in Apollo Justice, Capcom received much chagrin from its loyalist Ace Attorney fan base, scorning the lack of the treasured cast built up over a trilogy of games. To their credit, the boys in blue [and yellow] did listen – Ace Attorney Investigations is the result of them being appreciative of their fans.
If you’re reading this review, I doubt you are not familiar with the franchise. However, if only to re-enlighten those who hadn’t picked up an Ace Attorney game in a couple of years, the series is well-known for its expansive, explorative gameplay in which you pace around large areas finding clues to defend a client as a defence attorney...
Rockstar keeps teasing us with new gameplay trailers from their upcoming game Red Dead Redemption. This new trailer features on some of the women you will be running into in the game. Yes, there were females in the Wild West.
Zelda has been in the hearts of gamers for a long time now and for me, is a cherished series of fantastic games. Of course, the same opinion is shared across many gamers all around the world; which is why whenever a new Zelda title is announced, it’s carefully watched, speculated over and tends to build itself a lot of hype.
But ‘Spirit Tracks’ didn’t seem to grab the fan’s attention as much this time, showing that our hopes for a great game were a little lacking.
It's been a little while since Modern Warfare 2 took the world by storm, but now we're hearing the next bunch of details concerning Call of Duty 7. As we already know, the game will be set in Vietnam War, but now we have a few more details which could tickle your fancy.
If you have been to gametrailers.com in the past few months, you may have seen the advertisement for pre-ordering Battlefield: Bad Company 2 at GameStop. I think I can even say the entire ad from memory, "Pre-order Battlefield: Bad Company 2 at GameStop and unlock Rush Mode 30 days before everyone else..Power to the players." Do I even have to explain why this is so ridiculous..oh I do. Okay, well follow me inside and I will tell you.
It's finally here after months of development. We have finally launched our brand new website and I'm sure you'll agree with me that it's our best design yet! We've worked countless hours on it and we still have much to do to get the site as accessible and as sophisticated as we had planned.
So what do you think? Is the new style modern enough for you? Perhaps you can see areas of the site where we can improve the design. We still have much to do, but the site is completely usable. Some things that we do have planned:
- User pages - Forum - Facebook style wall-posting
and so much more.
I'll be sure to keep you updated, but I truly hope you do enjoy everything we've done!
